What's in my Fridge (and Freezer)?
Moving from Chicago to Phoenix meant eating or tossing all of our perishable food and re-buying everything upon arrival. I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to take stock of what I consider a fridge or freezer staple. These are items I ALWAYS have. When one starts to run low I immediately add it to my shopping list. Many are actually shelf-stable until opened, so I may even buy in bulk and just move them into the fridge or freezer as needed. I try really hard not to keep more than I need to in the fridge. An overstuffed fridge does NOT bring me joy. So, without further ado, here is my list.
Notes: I’ll try to note brands where applicable, and the stores I generally buy the items at. Standard grocery store refers to something like a Safeway or Kroger. Whole Foods is my preferred health food store, though I sometimes go to places like Fresh Thyme or Sprouts instead. And Costco is my only warehouse membership at this time. I don’t buy much food online, but there’s a few items in the list that are hard to find elsewhere. Finally, whenever I say “organic, if possible,” the deciding factors are generally price and availability.
