Tera Naset, MS, RD, CDCES
Registered Dietitian & Diabetes Educator
Hi, I’m Tera!
I became a Registered Dietitian (RD) in 2012 with dreams of practicing preventive medicine. But as fate would have it my first job wasn’t about prevention at all - it was about weight loss. I quickly realized that most people struggling with weight were really struggling with something called insulin resistance. Whether they had been diagnosed with diabetes or not, their body was desperately trying to regulate their blood sugar by converting carbohydrates to fat. Fascinated by the innerworkings of metabolism, I studied to become a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) in 2015. I spent the next five years helping people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, high blood pressure and excess weight gain take control of their bodies. Many of my patients had been told that these diseases are progressive and destined to get worse over time, but that simply isn’t true. You can prevent the progression of metabolic disease, and in many cases you can even reverse it. I am here to help you do just that.
After eight years working at an academic medical center in Chicago, I now operate my own nutrition counseling practice based in Phoenix. I work with my patients virtually in order to make care convenient and accessible for patients throughout Arizona, Illinois and beyond.
Tera earned her Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. Upon graduation she spent eight years working at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago before relocating to Arizona and opening her own practice. Prior to becoming a dietitian, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University and worked in strategy and operations consulting.
Tera lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and two young kids. Together they enjoy cooking, traveling, camping and hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
